Knitted Lovliness...

I almost forgot to mention that I have found the best knitwear designer in the world! Patmellor, also known as my beautiful, talented mummy. She creates amazing knitted accessories using the most luxurious wool blends in beautiful neutral colours. I am particularly fond of her hot water bottle covers in chunky biscuit aran, her delicate beanie hats with her personally designed knitted flower and her flower brooches. Her work is so beautiful and professional...She has even inspired me to knit something...

Newness...

I have a Dawanda...hurray! I have had it for a while and its a fantastic place to sell beautiful handcrafted things, go and check out all the lovely hand crafted goodies on there! I have decided that I am going to TRY really hard to update my blog weekly with interesting and inspiring things, i say TRY because although my intentions are good life sometimes gets in the way!

I have found an amazing website from a fantastic textiles designer called Claire Nicholson, she combines beautiful digitally printed cottons and silks with vintage fabric, her colours are spectacular and I adore her bird, blossom and butterflies motifs. Her interior collections and accessories would give any room a fresh, lovely contemporary splash of colours. I adore her Designs. Clair's website is lovely too, go and have a peek at...

well, it has been quite a while! One of the annoying aspects of me is the fact that I never seem to remember a password. Really I should just have one but as it happens, I change my mind too often and leave myself in a well of confusion. Alas the confusion has ended today and my guessing skills are better than ever hence the fact that I managed to get into my blog!

I am so inspired today, I can feel it from the tips of my toes to the end of my fingertips. I don’t want to sleep, I want to create and stitch and design and paint...I have been creating many blythe clothes recently, I really enjoy it. I love taking current trends and colours, patterns and prints and turning them into a tiny collection of loveliness. Its great fun and very inspirational! I often wonder what a life without design might be like! for me, not worth living. I continually open my mind and let it wander as far as it would like to go and only then, when my imagination is somewhere filled with magic I am at my happiest.

Im also very happy when I find inspirational designers, I recently stumbled across a designer named Louise Body. She creates beautiful antiquated wallpapers and textiles with birds and flowers printed on them. I adore birds, I think they offer a very interesting design silhouette which will never be unfashionable. Louise’s work is so beautifully calming and serene, her colour palette is neutral which compliments the bold, yet refined...almost vintage looking patterns she uses. Her designs make me think of quintessential Englishness, afternoon tea, lace gloves and finest china, rose gardens and basking in the afternoon sunshine...

Oh i almost forgot...

Oh i almost forgot to mention how the craft fairs have been going, the answer being wondeful! The other designers are lovely people and its a wonderful chance to meet and discuss ideas. The night before the first craft fair i remember looking at some of the other designers work and feeling self doubt, afterall this was going to be the first thing i have done without university guidance behind me but it was nothing like i expected! I recieved good comments about my designs and nothing can fill a designer with more happiness...nothing, well except chocolate perhaps...i also met laura fairbrother. The designer whom i mentioned prior to the fair! Laura is an unbelievable talent, her fabric work is quite beautiful and that girl can sew. Her stuffed animals are very sophisitiocated as is her colour pallet and illustration work, its always good to meet someone whos work you admire especially if, like laura they are a lovely person too. I look forward to seeing some of her new work and hopefully doing a craft fair with her again sometime...

Hmmmm, i wonder is she would like someone to go into business with *smiles*

go and have a look at her wonderful things at:

Birdies!

I have been so creative lately. And its a happy creativity! ive been making wonderful blythe outfits for my etsy, craft fair things like gorgeous bags and cushions and christmas decorations...they are in the shape of little plump, polkadot birds. I love the shape of the birds and feel that once this cupcake project is over i may use them as my inspiration for upcoming projects! Im thinking muted colours, worn papers, vintage flowers, used and possibly deconstructed lace and birds! it sounds a little random but in my head it makes perfect, wonderful sense ^__^

Oh My...

Tomorrow is my very first craft fair...eeeep. im terrified. Past exhibitions have been done with firends but this time i go it alone...I have spent valuable tag making time checking out my competition and OH MY...there are some amazing artists joining me in altrincham tomorrow. One of the designers is Laura Fairbrother-her work is amazing. She has a great eye for subtle colour and texture. Her ''cupcakes for Clara'' range is really, really lovely. Oooooh dear! I had better go and be creative...

Here It Is!

So here it is! I finally have a blog. A blog to detail all of my creative finds and inspirations...To look at my inspirations now you wouldn't think i was the same girl whom graduated manchester met last july...i have changed. My work has changed. My inspirations have changed. For example i adore kath kidston now! Her floral prints are both modern yet vintage, bright yet dull...i have become obsessed with her repeat pattern, edible roses and polka dot prints. I also adore her products, i MUST have a ''new rose bloom'' ironing board, i MUST! I feel passionate when i look at her work. Hmmmm, i think i have got it bad....
